New long-distance hiking trail in the Erzberg-Leoben region

Hotel Kindler 2.0 is hotel partner in the center of Leoben and welcomes all long-distance hikers at the trail’s destination!
The ERZBERG-LEOBEN region can be wonderfully explored on foot since August 2022, perfectly signposted and marked. Starting from St. Michael i.O., the new long-distance hiking trail leads along the Liesing Valley to Wald am Schoberpass for the first few days. A total of 14 communities of the adventure and sports region are “on the way”. Numerous accommodation partners along the trail are happy to look after the well-being of ambitious long-distance hiking fans. The snack box available at the starting point – filled with delicacies from the “GenussReich” partners – ensures that you never run out of strength along the way.
The first three stages are ideal to “break in”, before it then goes in 4 demanding days via Radmer, Eisenerz, the Sonnschienalm and Tragöß to Vordernberg.
The final 3 stages are then hiked from Trofaiach to Niklasdorf and finally over our local mountain, the Mugel.
The mining town of Leoben is the perfect trail conclusion and invites tired hikers to stay for one more night after reaching their self-set goal. Relaxation in the AsiaSpa, shopping in the LCS or a visit to an event will make you fit again for your next adventure after the exertions.
The start and end points of the Styrian Iron Trail are both ideally accessible by train. The return journey from Leoben to the starting point in St. Michael (to perhaps reach the vehicle parked there) is also completed in a few minutes by train.
At Hotel Kindler 2.0, a cozy single or double room awaits tired but happy trail graduates. To replenish the electrolytes you’ve sweated out, the Arkadenhof – Leoben’s oldest brewery pub – will serve you a freshly tapped glass of GÖSSER beer.
