The wineries of Styria are known for their top-quality products. At the wine festival, 40 wineries present their best wines on the main square. There will also be culinary delicacies and musical entertainment.
Ideal as a prelude to a proper stag party or as the end of an action-packed day on the Mur or on a bike.
Once a year, the Brandlwiese in Leoben is transformed into a festival site. In the anniversary year 2024, there will be celebrations and dancing in the marquee for the 15th time. As usual, the musical program is top-class, and one guest is likely to make this year’s edition particularly popular.
Gerrie Friedle. alias DJ Ötzi, is also celebrating an anniversary. He has been entertaining local music fans with his hits for 25 years and will be rocking the tent on Thursday, September 5th.

The longest river in Styria provides the stage for this competition in the cool water. Paddling enthusiasts, nature lovers and adventurers from near and far take either the 14-kilometer “short version” or the 45-kilometer river marathon under the keel. In addition to the sporting challenge, the Mur-Challange impresses with its fauna and flora along the “Styrian Amazon”, which meanders freely and picturesquely through the landscape.
At the finish in Leoben, all water sports enthusiasts meet to discuss their experiences over food and drink and to honor the winner.
The event highlight for you and your friends. Whether it’s a company team, a group of friends or a school class – 14 paddlers compete to the beat of the drum for victory in this water sports event that originated in Asia.
The 15-meter-long boats compete against each other in timed heats on a 300-meter-long course. The places are then decided in the finals.
Asian cuisine, taster rides for children and traditional Thai dances form the supporting program at the Dragon Boat Festival in Leoben.
Due to the floods in June, the Dragon Boat Festival has been postponed to the current date in September!
At the Stadt Land Fest, numerous direct marketers present their products in the city of Leoben.
You can taste and sample to your heart’s content on the church square and in the pedestrian zone.
The event starts at 10:00 am.
The Gösser Kirtag in Leoben is one of the most popular fairs in Austria. It is also one of the oldest markets and the one with the longest street of stalls. From the traffic circle in the Göss district to the main square, around 400 market traders offer their products.
Thanks to a decree by Emperor Ferdinand, the Kirtag originated as a cattle and grocer’s market in 1836. The day of the event was also fixed back then. It is always the first Thursday after the first Sunday in October.
The traditional beer tapping, culinary delicacies, music and dancing ensure a great atmosphere for tens of thousands of visitors every year.
Whitsunday is all about live music in Leoben’s city center.
Various bands entertain the guests in the pubs and offer a colorful mix of many musical styles.
The doors of the participating venues are open to you with just one admission ticket.
The Leobener Oberlandler have been active since 1895 and take care of their two most important concerns – charity and Styrian consumption!
The Kirchtag at Massenburg Castle is the highlight of the year. Get your traditional costumes out of the wardrobe and celebrate together with the Oberlandler with a view of the city’s rooftops.
The Iron Road for Children Festival, or IRFC for short, is THE high-flyer in the Austrian event landscape. The country’s largest open-brand festival weekend for bikes, Vespas and US cars attracts around 40,000 visitors to the city every year.
Thanks to numerous sponsors, admission is free for the entire weekend. Instead, donations are collected for sick children. The funds are used to finance special purchases, therapy costs or conversion measures for the donated children.
An unforgettable experience for all riders are the joint rides with Vespas, motorcycles and US cars. Thousands of spectators line the streets around Leoben. In the evening, the party continues into the night on the main square with the respective show acts.
Area 53 is often referred to as “the coziest metal festival”. In its eighth edition in 2025 – in addition to the usual first-class line-up – exciting improvements for the audience are once again on the program.
