LE Running Event
September 19, 2026

The LE Running Event offers a wide variety of running and walking races for people of all ages:

  • LCS Kids’ Races
  • Nordic Walking Race (3 kilometers around Leoben)
  • 66 minutes from the Leoben competition
  • AT&S 3-Person Relay Competition

Program

  • 10:00 a.m.: Opening
  • 10:30 a.m.: LCS Kids’ Races
  • Followed by an awards ceremony with a raffle for prizes and a french fry party
  • 1:15 p.m.: Start of the Nordic walking competition
  • 2:30 p.m.: Start 66 minutes from Leoben & 3-person relay race
  • 4:15 p.m.: Awards ceremony for the main race, featuring a raffle and a pasta party

City-Country Festival
September 20, 2026

Leoben’s main square is once again transformed into a colorful stage celebrating regional culture, agricultural diversity, and genuine festivity. The festival begins at 10 a.m. with the traditional harvest thanksgiving service at St. Xaver Parish Church, kicking off a day full of culinary, musical, and family-friendly highlights.

Mur Challenge
September 26, 2026

The big Marathon Challenge will take place again on September 26, 2026. The race runs from Großlobming to Leoben and attracts water sports enthusiasts from many countries. Le Bootshaus and the Leoben Paddling Club provide exciting adventures along and on the Mur River.

Gösser Kirtag
October 8, 2026

The Gösser Kirtag in Leoben is one of the most popular fairs in Austria. It is also one of the oldest markets and the one with the longest street of stalls. From the traffic circle in the Göss district to the main square, around 400 market traders offer their products.

Thanks to a decree by Emperor Ferdinand, the Kirtag originated as a cattle and grocer’s market in 1836. The day of the event was also fixed back then. It is always the first Thursday after the first Sunday in October.

The traditional beer tapping, culinary delicacies, music and dancing ensure a great atmosphere for tens of thousands of visitors every year.

And because the Kirtag usually lasts longer (and allegedly alcoholic drinks are also consumed from time to time)……..

For decades, Die Paldauer have been among the most successful Schlager bands in Europe. With their original ideas and unique stage shows, they have always been pioneers in the industry and have been imitated many times.

Get into the spirit of the most wonderful time of the year at the Christmas market on Leoben’s main square!

Atmospheric events, miniature replicas of Leoben’s landmarks, and the decorated Christmas tree create a festive pre-Christmas atmosphere. For children, this year’s festivities once again include an amusement park with a Ferris wheel and other rides.

Live music every day on the Advent stage, activities for children and families, arts and crafts, culinary delights, and indulgences—a special blend of quality, variety, and tradition!

AREA 53 Festival
July 15–17, 2027

The Area 53 Festival in Leoben is often described as “the coziest metal festival.” In 2027, in addition to the usual first-class lineup, the festival will once again feature exciting improvements for attendees.
